Facebook owned Whatsapp, Instagram down in India, other parts of world.

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging service owned by Facebook faced a global outage on Friday due to unknown reasons. Users are also unable to make use of the platform Instagram like refreshing feeds in various parts of the world, including in India.

Neither WhatsApp nor Instagram has issued an official statement regarding what issue led to this outage as of yet.


Social media users are taking to Twitter to report their inability to access their WhatsApp accounts and send messages. Once accessed the account, WhatsApp is unable to connect to the internet connection.

Similar cases are being reported by Instagram users as well. Upon accessing Instagram, users are unable to refresh their feed and are met with an opening message that says, “Couldn’t Refresh Feed”.

A similar outage was recorded in February of this year when users online started reporting difficulties with Facebook and its applications, including Instagram and WhatsApp.

Outage tracking website Downdetector.com showed there were nearly 1 million incidents of people reporting issues with Instagram, while nearly 20,000 users posted about problems with WhatsApp on the website.
